Bank Vault Demolition – Midland, Ontario

Our team successfully completed the controlled demolition of a reinforced bank vault located inside a commercial unit. The vault was a 12x12 ft structure, heavily fortified with a 7 mm internal steel lining, stiffeners, metal angles, and fiber-reinforced concrete. A massive 2-ton vault door with a 16 mm steel base floor made this demolition especially challenging. Step 1 – Detailed Assessment Before cutting, our specialists carried out a comprehensive technical analysis, evaluating wall thickness, reinforcement density, and door construction. This ensured a safe and efficient step-by-step removal strategy. Step 2 – Wire Sawing & Heavy Equipment To cut through the dense reinforced concrete and steel, we deployed our 30 kW wire sawing system powered by an external generator. Wire sawing was chosen because of its ability to handle extreme reinforcement and thick concrete while minimizing vibrations. • Wire Sawing: Applied to the walls and the massive steel vault door, which was cut into manageable segments for safe removal. • Wall Sawing (Heavy-Duty): Used alongside wire sawing for vertical sections and thick concrete segments. • Walk-Behind Saw: Applied for precise cutting on the vault floor. Step 3 – Controlled Demolition The vault was dismantled piece by piece over 15 working days. Cutting into segments allowed for clean removal, without shock loads, dust, or vibration that could disturb neighboring businesses. Even the heavy vault door was carefully cut and removed in parts. Final Result The entire demolition was completed without structural damage to surrounding units. No heavy-impact tools like jackhammers were used, ensuring dust-free, vibration-free, precision demolition.
